CASSA - South Asian Heritage Month Volunteers
As you may know, the month of May is South Asian Heritage Month. In commemoration, CASSA will be holding various events and activities throughout May 2013.
This year’s events include:
South Asian Heritage Month Gala Dinner
CASSA will be hosting a gala dinner to celebrate the 12th anniversary of SAHM in Ontario and CASSA’s 25th Anniversary. The Gala will take place at the Princess Banquet Hall (3330 Pharmacy Ave.), on May 31st at 6p.m.
If you are interested in any of these events and would like to get involved as a volunteer, please do not hesitate to contact [email protected]. Join them and be part of many these exciting activities.

Made By Hand: Event Volunteer
Made by Hand is committed to supporting local Canadian artists and crafters by showcasing an event where local artists are able to show and sell their work.
You will assist at the event; help vendors load in/out, booth sit (for vendors to have a break), greet and other duties. You will be doing a 4-5 hour shifts Saturday April 20, 2013 hours between 7:30am-7:00pm

Peel Multicultural Council: Project Assistant
The Peel Multicultural Council was established in 1977 because of the concerns arising from a Social Planning Council report on immigrant needs in Peel. A group of ethnic leaders joined together to facilitate positive community relations.
You will assist with developing materials, update databases, assist with events, and do general office duties.

CHEER Canada: Student Volunteers
CHEER Canada is a completely volunteer driven not-for-profit for social justice, aiming to improve the health, education and economic condition of the needy children and their families in Pakistan.
Your task will be to work with your student peers to raise awareness about children in need of education, health and food/shelter in impoverished villages in Pakistan. Raise awareness about the impact of natural disasters on children and how to help them. Assist with organizing community events to raise awareness.

Reading Buddies is a reading mentorship program where teens will read with children who are looking for extra reading attention. To apply, please fill out the application form and return it to any Brampton Library location.

This is an excellent way to get involved.
The Mississauga Food Bank has created an online databased that allows individuals to book a day and time to volunteer as a group or independently. The calendar is easy to use and as a volunteer you can coordinate according to your own schedule. You will need to register (which is easy!). Click here in order to view their calendar.
